 I live in Michigan and want to hunt yotes at night. I have been told that only rimfire guns are allowed after dark here. So I am planning on buying a rimfire rifle. Gander mountain was advertising a savage 22 mag with a scope for $189. Which sounds pretty reasonable. I dont want to spend alot of money and I would imagine that they are all about the same as far as accuracy. Does anybody have any suggestions on what I should buy. By the way I think a 200 yard gun would be plenty. And does anyone know if a muzzle loader is legal after dark?

Thanks Evan.
I just picked up a Ruger 77/22 Varmint. 24" SS with laminate stock. Really nice gun. I put a 3-3x40 scope on it and shot it for the first time yesterday. The only loads I can find are Winchester and maxi-mags. I decided to try the winchester. The first two shots were in the same hole at 65yards. Of coarse it was just a fluke but it really got me going. I managed to get a 1" group just laying across a table without a sand bag or anything. The scope was only off by 2" at 65 yards straight out of the box. @black Hopefully I can find some different ammo around here somewhere.

Hey Chum,
The litte Ruger sounds promising. Another load for the WMR is the Remington, I have shot some of the little "green tip" WMR loads they offer and really like 'em on crows and 'chucks. Accurate as sin and twice as deadly to boot!

Take a look at the CZ-452, the best value on the market if you are looking for an accurate well made boltgun.

It will shoot rings around the Ruger and costs $200 LESS
