I am not sure if there is really a good answer for this question, but I will pose it anyway.

I have (2) rifles chambered for .223 caliber rounds. A Remington ADL with 24" barrel 1-12" twist, and a Ruger Mini 14 with 18.5" barrel and 1-9" twist.

I also have 2 different bullets that I shoot; a 55gr Nosler Ballistic Tip and a 75gr Hornady BTHP.

I am going to setup one rifle with the lighter bullet and one with the heavier bullet. My question is, should I use the lighter/heavier bullet in the longer/shorter barrel?

Sorry if this is a silly question. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

LC, the choice is made for you; the 75gr Hornady will not be stabilized in a 12" twist. The bullet is simply too long. Bullets 60 grains and under will shoot best.

Use the 75's in your 9" twist. They may not be fully stabilized in it either, but since it is Mini-14 it would be hard to tell the difference. ;)
