Have him look into the 45-70, 444 marlin, 450 marlin , guide typ rifle.
Also Browning has come back this year with its BLR 81 in the 450 Marlin as well as the 358 Win and also the 270 WSM - 7mm WSM and 300 WSM. ;) Outlaw

Hey, Does anyone know what a good dependable brand of deer rifle would be?
I'm looking at at a Savage, but i hear a lot of people talk about Winchester or Remington.
What do you all think?
Here's the gun I'm looking at. :)

jd500 Just about any rifle made today will work ,I don't know of anyone making one that don't .Some just look a lot better ,feel a whole lot smoother and cost a heck of a lot more , But they don't shoot any more accurate. All the savages I have owned have been very accurate if that helps . But not pretty .

JD500 buddy, if you don't mind the Savages appearance, and have tested the trigger, buy it and don't look back, savages shoot and function fine(if not great according most any savage owner.) The triggers on them require a bit more TLC to get them lightened than some others, but even for most forum hunters on here probably still use their OEM triggers.

jd500,It really dosen't matter what anyone says pro or con. Just what you like and want, they are for the most part all good. The only savage I've ever owned was a 99C in 308win. It was an OK gun.
The savage you showed is a little heavey for me for deer hunting @ 8.75 LBs,will scope out at least 9 1/2 LBs. To each his own, good luck with your choice. ;) Outlaw

My shoulder hurts everytime I hear Outlaw say a rifle under 10lbs is too heavy :)

jd500, You might check out the weather warrior series 16fss. I have one in 223 was suprised the trigger wasn't to bad. And it shoots great. I also have a Winchester #70 but like the Savage just as well.

Thanks, Coycaller
Those are some nice looking coyotes there. What did you shoot them with?
I've looked at the weather warriors, but I like the barrel on the 12fvss.
Thanks for the help.
