i would like to buy a recurve bow for hunting boar and i am wondering what kind of a pull i would have to have to put one down. ive seen recurves up to 70lbs. of pull and as low as around 25lbs. im sure that an upper level pull would be needed but im not sure how high it needs to be.

a MINIMUM poundage i would use on boar/hogs would be 45# --- be sure to use a select 2 blade broadhead and shoot from very close.
most big animals (except big bears, moose and the very largest of species) in the north american continent have been taken with a 50# recurve/longbow.
i've shot aeros completely thru large animals with a 45# recurve.
i've shot aeros completely thru large animals with a 60# compound. One of which totally severed the spine of a wild sheep and another of which passed completely thru the skull/brain of another wild sheep.
(the head/skull shot was not deliberate shot, by the way. the animal moved as i released)

Ok, as for the draw weight, I would use as much as you can pull and hold in comfort. The broadhead is allways an interesting question. no matter how many bowhunters you ask you will get different answers from most of them. My personal favorite is 100gr Muzzy 3 blade. My best friend used 125gr thunderheads also 3 blade. bothhave performed well for us at a drw weight of 55lbs(him) and 64lbs(me). We both shoot carbon arrows and have taken many hogs.
