Other than my first deer i took over 27 yrs ago.
My most memorable hunt was when i took my biggest buck to date 6 yrs ago.
It was the first week of November 96 bow season.I got to the timber and to my stand to realize i had left my release in the truck. And reluctantly went back for it.As i did'nt feel confident shooting w/o it.
So i made it back to the stand only to run off a couple does apond my arrival.Feeling more frustrated than earier i got set in for the afternoons hunt.
After a hour of second guessing myself if i should have choosen another stand.I caught movement to my right,as some does were working their way to me down the trail.I watched behind them for any sign of more movement.
As the does passed i kept a close eye on them and down the trail hoping to catch a glimpse of a buck in pursuit.
I must of been consintrating to much in that direction to notice the buck to my left of me,till a branch snapped.
There stood the biggest buck i had ever had before me,within shooting distance and a clear shot. And i wasn't prepared for him.He had caught me off gaurd, and i trembled from my throat to my toes.Trying to get into shooting position without alerting him to my presance.I took every ounce of strength i had to get my bow to full draw. And at that point i knew i had to get myself togather or i could blow the shot or worse only wound him.I got my breathing under controll and somewhat the shakes too,for the time being.I focused on a tuffed of hair behind his front shoulder said a quick prayer and released the arrow. It flew straight and true to the mark. The buck jumped and kicked out with it's rear legs and bolted off into the thickets. As i could see it's tail bounding off. After a 20 minute wait in the stand to compose myself before climbing down.I bloodtrailed the buck for about 40 yds, where he went down.
After looking him over good he had 22 pts of which 19 are scoreable.

Mossyhorns congrats on a couple nice bucks .
The hunt I remember most was a 6X6 elk in the state of utah . We called him in to about twenty yards and took him with an arrow through both lungs .He only went about thirty feet before he went down .I have some pictures ,but can't seem to find them since we moved . If I do I will post them .

I'll have to assume you mean bow hunt. Well that would have to be my first deer, which was an archery deer. Kind of an ersatz affair as I was learning to hunt and on my third year of bow-hunting, no one in my family hunted, so I was just winging it. The school of "hunting from scratch". I actually was walking along a fence-line to a spot I was going to watch for the evening, and it happens that I the fence-line was on a ridge like affair, woods on one side (The side I was on) and field on the other side. On a hunch I got enough elevation right up next to the fence to see in the field on the other side. There was a small buck there, it was an easy shot the deer didn't spot me, one shot kill, the deer ran the (now usual) 50 yards downhill and into some light brush. I actually had that buck lined up to get mounted. Later I got a second larger buck with my bow on later in the season, and my taxidermist let me swap them out. That was my first successful year of bow-hunting, and here's to many more. I could post a picture of "Eric" if anyone want's to see him, the mount is right over my compuer here.

2002 gun season
Opening morning 2002 gun season as it sometimes go, not a thing,,, was that way all day until dark , jump two on way back to my pcup .
The next morning things were great everything was falling into place got to my stand an hour b4 daylight three deer blew at me but didn't run I could see where the steam from their breath was rasing in the air.. then at shooting light nothing, didn't see or hear them leave. I sat at stand until 9.30 was stiff wanted to take alittle walk I move to the power line sat on the ground near a crossing I knew of, after about 10 mins. past , a doe came by moving fast within three mins. 4 more does came by moving fast there was a 6 point buck behind the last doe she was hot
They ran around the bottom in front of me for about 20 mins I knew I could take any one I wanted ( had anydeer tag ) but was having a good time watching them when a 8 point show up and ran off the 6 point while they were up in the wood about 150 yds away I saw 5 does about 400 yard up on the hill in the middle of the power line put the glasses on them I saw a movement on the left edge of the line it was a 12 point big boy that I had seen during the 1st. part of bow season I put the range finder on him it was 350 yds I know I can shoot that but he was behind trees with no real shot.
I pulled out my grunts started with a tending gunt that would only bring the 6 or 8 about haft way to me I wanted to bring the 12 out just a few feet fo the shot he would not have any of this I got out a old buck grunt let him have a blast of it it got his blood up but still would not come out went back to tending gunt tryed to get the two other bucks in a fight hopeing that would bring him out but just brought a spike from behind on my left side just 10 ft past me to join with the others below me.
after about an hour of this a 7 point came right to left about 25-30 yards he had a bigger rack in size than the 6 or 8 point did. So one shot and I headed for home I must say I have taken a lot of deer with my gun and bow but this was the best deer hunt of my life ,,, as always happy hunting

My most memorable hunt was my first buck. He wasnt a trophy, just a 4 point, but I did it! I have a ground blind dug into the top of a hill in a pine forest. I can see one area in particular that has had a lot of traffic, so I was concentrating mainly on that spot. Its a nice run that has had a ton of does travelling it. So there I am watching and glassing the passing does. An hour goes by with nothing, then I see him. I knew it was a buck from his movements (he looked like a dog hopping around as he walked) I figured its a buck trailing one of those hot does. No doe tag, so I have to be sure. He walks through my first (of three) shooting lanes. I see antlers. I double checked on the second shooting lane, confirmed antlers. When he walked into the third and final shooting lane I took my shot. 120 yards with the Ruger .44mag carbine and a direct heart shot. He managed to run about 40 yards before he dropped. It was a proud moment for me. Not only was it my first kill, it was the first time I ever took a shot at a deer.

I can't say i've had a memorable "hunt" It was more of shall we say "target practice" I'm new to bow hunting and have just started to get into things. The only succesful shot I've have taken was at a groundhog about 25 yards away. All I have at the moment are field points and i have been told it takes 3 or 4 to kill a groundhog(they're tough little buggers). I took 1 shot. My arrow landed square in the side of its head. I guess I can't be too bad a shot to hit that small of a target on my first shot at a moving target. That has been my most memorable to date.

Welcome to the Forums Newbie 101,
Hey hitting a groundhog with an arrow is no easy task, let alone killing one with target tips at that.I hit one twice with broadheads and it got away from me.so congrats to you. That should pump you up for the up comeing season...lol
What kind of bow and setup are you shooting?
Remember here at Huntseek,If you got questions we got answers...lol

Hi Newbie101,
That sounds like a very memorable hunt to me. You will remember that as your first for many years to come.
