I just got one of these littile rifles in 223.My thought on this gun is it would make a good carry rifle for fox and coyote hunting here in the north east.My ? is does anybody here have one of these rifles, and what you think about them.I also would like to here what style of bullet would be the most fur friendly in this gun for these 2 animals.

yote 243, I myself wouldn't care for the 16 1/2 inch barrel. I like at least a 20 inch, like whats on the ultralight Ruger, but to each his own. I use factory 55gr loads most any brand and they work well on coyotes. Very small hole that the fur buyer don't care about. That is when you can find a fur buyer to buy your fur and pay anything for it. So with a 16 1/2 inch barrel at less fps you should do even better with the bullet not opening up as fast, should be good. ;) Good luck, Outlaw.

Outlaw I agree with you about the barrel being short on these guns ,I would reather had a ultralight but I ended up with this gun on a trade .I have been wanting a lite gun in 22cal for awhile but could never come up with the money to buy one, then this trade came up and I turned it down at first but after thinking about it for a day the thought of having a carry/ calling rifle that weight is under 7lbs with scoop grew on me for all the deep snow we get in the winter.

Hey "yote,
Sounds like you did all right. They are slick little rigs, but I also would like a tad longer barrel. The only downfall I see! I shot one in the .308, made my teeth hurt from the muzzle blast! @black They are flat accurate, and I'd dare say the 55's in the Ruger would be "preferred poison"!

yote243, I would have to say I would like the light weight of those little guns at 5 lbs or so for an all day carry gun. ;) :D :P  Outlaw

I'm a little late in the game with this reply, but...
I use 55g Sierra BT-GKs in my 223 for foxes. They're a very tough .224 bullet, and act like a big game bullet if you keep the velocity at or below 2800 fps. I'd say they'd be perfect at about 2600 fps out of your compact.
How good is yours shooting anyway? I'm planning on getting me one for exactly the purpose you're using yours for.

Yes that compact kinda grows on ya. At first I didn't like them at all,but now I'am having second thought's. Would make a sweet calling carry gun. Outlaw

I just realised, I didn't answer your most important question!
The 55g Bt-GK load I mentioned always exits on foxes, but only leaves a nickel sized exit hole, if you don't hit a lot of bone(shoulder blades).
