Looking for a new rifle scope for a 300WSM. I am drawn between Nikon, Burris and Leupold. I really like the looks of Burris and Nikon. Haven't had any experience with Leupold. I like the advantage of the adjustable objective. Looking for any and all input for a purchase. Price isn't a factor if what I buy is worth the price.

I own all three and believe me its leupold all the way, a 4.5x14 will serve you better than anything else on the market, and clearer too. Nikons are made in taiwan, and the monarchs are not as good as the vari-x II's, burris are a decent scope but alot longer and heavier than they need to be. contact premier reticles for a price on a loopy, they've always been real good to me

You can't loose with a Leupold, or the high dollar Nikons. The cheaper ones, we'll you get what you pay for.
I don't have any experience with burris.

SORRY TO BE A DICK, BUT I WOULDN'T OWN ANY OTHER "AMERICAN" SCOPE THAN A BURRIS. BY THE WAY THE LEUPOLD LENSES ARE MADE IN THE ORIENT AS ARE THE SPUN ALUMINUM TUBE. THE MARK 4 SERIES TUBES ARE U.S. MADE BUT NOT THE VARI'S. BURRIS RIFLE SCOPES ARE 100% US. MADE "GLASS" LENSES NOT THE OREGON "JAP" PLASTIC.
NOW AS FOR THE NIKON/BURRIS/LEUPOLD DEBATE. I WOULD BUY A 3X9 ZEISS CONQUEST. THIS IS THE BEST 500.00$ SCOPE ON THE MARKET. PERIOD. (ACTUALLY I WOULD GO TO A GUN SHOW AND FIND A USED 4X ZEISS)BUT I AM WEIRD.

Mr 30-06 Just because you have a different opinion don't make you a bad guy :P :P I have a spotting scope by Burris and if thier scopes aren't any better quality than it is "no thanks" . Myself I have a couple leupolds that are pretty good scopes , and maybe a dozen misc scopes ,just no Burris but that don't make me a bad guy either . I guess what I'm trying to say is as long as its clear and does its job ,I don't care who made it .

you might look inot the simmons aetec for a good scope for the money,
ive got 2.8-10x44 aetec and its as clear as my 3-9x40 leupold, for about a hundred bucks less, and holds zero on my mild manered 25.06, Id buy another one in heart beat.
they all make good scopes, biut some of the manufactures make down right junk for cheap. 60 dollar scopes n stuff.
simmons sales good ones andjunk have to be carefule with what you buy
but leupolds are all good(thats my opion)
I belive sightrons to be good quality all of them,
burrious from what everyone says there good, but I have no exsperince with them
Nikon they say there in the same ball park as leupold(comparable scopes)
I have expserince with the simmons cheap line 60 doolar 3-9 it was damn good scope fore qute a few years on my 270, but cant hardly see through it now.
the aetec blows it outa the water
my sightron has kinda fiicky adjustable objective(reason Im not big fan of high power
dang I rambing

If you are interested, Kaps Optik riflescopes are now being sold in America thru Kaps Optik USA. Kaps made the scopes for the German Army's G3/HK91.
Rugged German engineering along with German glass. Not pieces made in China or another cormer communist country and assembeled in Juarez. Better yet, the scopes are around 20% cheaper than comparable German scopes.

Jees the last time I checked this thread was before Mr. 30'06's little fire. Anyhow, I have to say that I have been happier with my Leupold scopes than any other brand. The single largest issue I've had with leupold scopes was inconsistent tube sizing.... Fancy that if outsourcing is what it takes to get good tubes so be it. The most recent Leupold scope I bought about a year ago has a perfect tube( do you measure or justify these things 30'06?) Personally I've never seen any info indicating that Leupold does outsource tubes, frankly they were some of the innovators of modern spinning techniques. As far as Japanese glass goes yes they have been outsourcing for some time, and Japan is the country to work with too. ( not just somewhere over in the 'orient' ) With out Japanese and Germans americans where do you think the US technological frontier would be today (or would the US even exist?)
