what do you think of these, I guess Im asking this question alittle late because I picked it up yesterday. jumped through the hoops to get it, Im under 21. its a 2" barrel with the rubber grips, the grips sold me because it feels so good in my hand I had to have it, even though I was looking for something alittle bigger like 41 44 or 45. I was wanting a pistol to pack with me for self defence primarly dureing early season deer scouting when I dont feel like packing rifle(I never go out scouting without somekinda firepower)
the rossi is double action has a crisp light trigger pull when you pull the hammer back and squeaze, Im guessing under 2lbs (loaned out my trigger scale ;) )
I guess it shoots alright, I can manage a 12" group at about 15yds  lol I guess thats aduaguate if bear is comeing up on me, and yes I know its alittle light for dropn a mad bear in its tracks but I feel its better then tucking and crossing my fingers.
heres link to ithttp ://www.rossiusa.com/r462.html , let me know what you think, as this is my first real revolver.
I plan to shoot a mix of 38 specials and 357 shells through it to get familar with it and will do some jack rabit plinking with 38s, its quite often you walk up on crouched rabit at less then 15yds
give me any info you think I should no about this little guy ohhhh its is made by taurus says right on it.
thankx

Wear ear plugs with the 357 , They can be a little loud with that short barrel . Of course they can be loud with a long barrel too . Congrats on your new piece ,taurus makes pretty good guns . I have never owned one but have shoot a few . Rojo

Evan one place you might try is www.midsouthshooters.com they seem to be pretty reasonable on prices and I have dealt with them on line . They carry a good selection of holsters . I have some other places but all that info is out in the reloading room . If they don't work out let me know and I'll try to get some other addys . Rojo

I have a real Rossi (before Taurus took them over) 6" compensated .357 and I like it. It's accurate out to 50 yards, you can still hit at 75 yards but you have to use a lot of Kentucky windage.
I messed up and shot it once without hearing protection and my ears were ringing for the whole day, they were pouring out wax for a few days.
I got my holster from a local gun shop, it's an Uncle Mikes vertical shoulder holster.

I dont mind that taurus puts there name on the rossi, wich is basicaly a tarus, tarus is well known I hadnt even heard of rossi until recently.
Im getting alot better with it, 20yds shots on soccer ball sized rocks are getting better, I can make contact farily consinstently. 50yds are in the ball park. but it takes alot of luck to hit a rock that size, but I think I could hit a bear size critter out at the range. that would just tick it off though
Ill check out the sites for holsters,
I think I want something that I can just clip to my belt, that way its easy to take off, I wont be packn this thing anywhere then in feild nor will I tote it in alittle podunk store while Im spending a day in the feild. so itd be nice to just not have to do anything to take it off.
thankx again

Evan,
My only centerfire pistol is a Colt .357 snubby. Let me tell you with .357 bullets I'm all over the target, but with .38 it groups descently. I had a friend that wanted to trade me his Glock .40 S&W for it. I wish I would have done it, because the Colt is now out of time, and cost to reapir it is kind of out of my budget at the moment.

Evan,
Sounds like a 677 or 877, I had one of the 877's (stainless) and it was a keeper. They are good little guns and as far as I am concerned, as good as a Smith. In my line of work, I carry a Model 60 S&W .357 for a back-up w/2" barrel and it'll ring 'yer bell w/the 130 gr Fed. Hydras  I let my dad take over the Rossi and he has packed it ever since he got his concealed carry permit as I commonly carry the Mod.60 or my 2 1/2" S&W 64 .357 off-duty. Don't worry about the little gun, they are as tough as any little revolver out there and are a fine weapon.
