i guess i sound like a broken record, nevertheless i feel it has to be said.

there is a bill in kaliphornia state legislature, AB 50 that outlaws the .50 cal BMG rifles and calls for an 8 year prison sentence if you are caught in possesion of one after january, 2004. if you currently own/possess one you must surrender it for destruction with no compensation from the state. you will not be able to own or possess .50 cal ammo or reloading components. you will not be able to "collect" them either.

this is being pushed as being a "terrorist" weapon and is being billed as such!

it does exempt military and law enforcement. (doesn't that make you feel better?)

i don't know what else to say except we better get off of our collectives asses and contact the folks in sacramento and voice our opposition.

even you 'foreigners' from other states should write them.

this law will spell disaster for the law abiding gun owners of kaliphornia. it literally opens the door of confiscation and in affect, declares anyone who owns or possesses a rifle (even a single shot .22 rimfire) as being a terrorist. it will no doubt be spread to other states by our paranoid legislators.

governor@governor.ca.gov is gov davis' email.

www.FCSPI.org is the 50 cal shooters orginization web address.

spread the word to write in opposition.

It's a shame that they have to think they need to do this. Most people don't own one and don't want to. It's a heavy gun and too large for me to carry hunting. But still shouldn't let them take the right of you owning one for the love of plinking. If you can afford to.

But then again it's kaliphornia and they have a tendency to spread like the HIV virus.

SO STOP IT NOW IN KALIPHORNIA

Its just like most of the laws they pass in Ca they only make life miserable for they average citizen and it don't mean a da-- thing to the criminal or terrorist types . Just another law and they can't enforce the ones they already have . Have you ever read the Ca law on assult rifles ,that is about as dumb as you can get . Don you have my sympathy ,I'm just glad I don't live there anymore .

I often wonder what kind/caliber of person it takes to dream up the crazy s#@! they bring into legislation! As a law enforcement officer, I am sworn to uphold the laws that these crazy SOB's dream up. First Cali wanted to ban assault weapons, now they have banned semi-autos and now they are trying to ban the .50's! I just don't understand it out there. As for here in KY, they haven't placed in bans or the like, not yet anyhow. I often wondered how things got so screwed up over there and have come to the conclusion that the Cali law-makers sit in little round rooms w/padded walls and no windows and wear jackets that have really long arms and a lot of buckles  ;) !!

All jokes aside, I don't understand the law makers and how they come to their conclusions. Take Jim Brady for example, I admire him in the fact that he sacrificed himself for Pres. Reagan. He did that which was required by him in the line of duty. However, a lot of people including Mrs. Brady do not understand this. They make laws to ban the manufacture/import of high capacity magazines and the like because a man was injured doing his job. What affect does the ban of high caps have, it only means that someone will have reload more often to put the same amount of lead in 'yer a#@!

As I said, I don't understand, owning a .50 doesn't declare one as a terrorist. If someone wanted to shoot someone bad enough they dang sure wouldn't need a .50 to get the job done!! What next?, are they looking to ban guns all together such as England did the last decade? All in all, people fail to see that it isn't the gun that does the killing, it is the hand that holds it! I have never seen a gun jump up and shoot someone by itself. I don't believe that we as law-abiding citizens should have our 2nd Amendment rights infringed upon because of the actions of others! I guess I've spent my .02 cents worth. Take care and God Bless to all.
