So, I asked this question on another board, and it really didn't go anywhere... it certainly didn't answer my questions...
And then I saw Mr. Frame was the moderator here, and I have complete faith in, and respect for, what he says... so I figured I'd ask it here...
I use a progressive loader for our 12 ga, and I would like to use shot buffer (I read it's easier on your barrel and helps the shot deform less).
How do I go about mixing the buffer in with the shot? Do I just pour them in together, or mix it up together then pour it in?
I just used a funnel and shook it down into the shell with the buckshot, for my 20 ga and the patterns looked a lot better (dropping to about two thirds the size at 50yds). Does it have as much of an advantage with bird/trapshot?
...but on the 12 ga loader the shells will not come out of the turret 'til they're finished being crimped (it's a progressive loader, doing one of nine steps everytime I pull the handle) and the funnel or even the bottle of buffer will not fit under the press and on top of the hull.
I am loading copper plated BBs (Crossman) for coyotes in waterfowl areas and pheasant release sights. Lead #1 buck for midsized mammals, and #4 buck for coyotes in the woods. I am loading #7 1/2 to #9 birdshot for trap (which we try to shoot 100 shells of a week, each).
So it was just for longevity that I really wanted to use it, I don't want to wear out our equipment prematurely.
It was suggested that this would be a good reason to purchase a second single stage loader (I have one I use for 20ga now)... but there is no way I'd be able to keep up with the sheer volume of 12ga shells we use... unless I gave up the internet. lol
Any assistance would be great!
Thanks,
