I am wondering if there is a conversion kit for win. model 70 to change from top load trap door model to clip load. If so, does anyone know of web address?

I thought clip feed was machined into the receiver. I suppose you could bolt something on top though. I can't say that I've ever heard of a clip fed 70, of course that doesn't mean there isn't one or an after market change over.

Powderburns,
I have never heard of a clip fed Win., however, if you have a little ingenuity I am sure that it could be done. A good example are the Parker Hale M85's that the Brits recently retired as their main sniper rifle in lieu of the Accuracy International .338 Lapua Magnums. The Parkers were a accurized M98 large ring mauser action chambered in the 7.62 NATO/.308 Win., they used a modified stock and hardware to use the M-14 mags in their rifles. I'm sure that a good gunsmith or machinist coud come up w/something using existing mags for the Brownings and the like. Hmmm, that gives me an idea or two, might just have to set down at the ol' drawin' board and design a new floor plate/trigger guard combo for the 70!!

Yes powderburns there is a clip fed Winchester, but its the model 100. Its a semi auto and discontinued due to cost too much to produce.
Shouldn't be too hard to put one together using Savage or Ruger parts. All you need is the sleeve that the clip locks into, then its SLAM/BAM!
Could even modify existing sleeve on M70 with a narrow single stack clip, or the Browning clip on the floor plate mod sounds good like the afore mentioned. Tis to dream.
Good luck.........................................Tony

Thanks Tony. I used 2 own a model 100. I'd forgotten about that. I'm working on a project 4 the 70. I have the idea, of using the swinging floor-plate 2 hold the clip in place, with a spacer between the plate + the clip.
It'll likely fly apart the first time I try it out.lol. O well nothing gained if nothing tried.
