Question being, what are some of the different methods used by all of us to locate coyotes other than scouting. I know scouting is important but I wanted to focus on locator howls with hand calls, sirens, electronic calls, both digital and tape based. Once coyotes are located, can we assume they are on territory or are they just moving thru? ADK and Moon Dog I would like to here from you guys. I'm not new to calling, have been calling for years, just would like to hear for different folks and present new ideas for any new people reading these posts and who knows, maybe some of us can actually learn someting new.

Marlowe, one of the best ways I have used , is get into big country with some good sage brush cover. Find a shallow hole ,do the coyote howl a few times, lay down in the hole on your back and get your legs up in the air and act like your riding a bike, legs apumping, while blowing off and on on a coyote call [rabbit type] . After about 5 min ease up rifle ready and slowly look the country over left to right, after a few min if nothing shows up do some low calling with the hand call. This has worked for me many time's and at time's it even calls deer and lope into close range. Sounds crazy but if you try it afew times it do work , but then I'm a little crazy myself. Outlaw

Outlaw,
I think you are confused. That's an old trick used by mountain men to locate squaw lady friends, not coyotes. ::blush

tcoop,
I still don't know wether it isthe howling or the upside down bicycling action that draws those lady friends to those mountain men. Maybe it is the Mountain Dew !!
