Good Morning to all! I am in the market for a new bow. I have only owned two bows, last one was a PSE edge series...which does an alright job, but looking to upgrade and get something that shoots faster. Was wanting to know the big difference between the double and single cams. Also, these carbon arrows, are they really that much faster and are they hard on your bow, such as being so lighted weighted..as dry firing your bow. There are so many out there, want to buy a decent and one that many seem to be happy with. Thanks for your time and help. Have a Great day!!! Spring is almost here!!

Welcome Indy,
You are so right about being so many differant type bows on the market.Best advise you can get is to get a bow that fits you,not you haveing to fit the bow.Your budget will also play a part in your selection.Do some homework check out web sites of the bow Mfg's.Get an idea of what your interested in.Then go visit the pro shop the deals with that Brand.Heres a link to bow mfg's Bow Mfg's (http://www.huntseek.net/index.php?PID=14)

Hi Indy,
You got some great advise from Mossyhorns and Stroker. One thing I would add is to try to find an archery pro shop that will set up and let you shoot several different bows from different manufacturers. This will help you find the bow that fits you like Mossyhorns said. They all feel & shoot different.
I'm fortunate enough to have a pro shop about 45 min. away from home. There are some closer, but it is worth the drive to get the knoledge and service if you can find a good shop.

Ain't that the truth tcoop.I have a couple of bow shops closer than the one i choose to do my biz with.Only because the guy is a bow tech, and really knows what he's talking about. He started his bow shop in 1961.And has a indoor range so you can shoot whatever bow he has in his shop.He is both Hoyt and Mathews dealer and cert. tech for each.He is about an hours drive, but like you said well worth it.Besides i take a little extra $ along to make it a shopping trip...lol

Mossyhorns, tcoop, stroker, thanks for all your helpful advise. I think I will find a good pro-shop near me and start looking. We have a deer and turkey classic coming central Illinois soon, they usually have several booths set up with different manufactures and field reps. I would like to visit a shop that has a indoor range, that would be nice to shoot different bows and get the feel for one. Thanks again and Happy hunting!~~

Old school, 65# 50% let off, 2216's at 180 fps, 125gr thunder heads What have I taken? Three bull elk ,black bear, lots of deer, coyotes and small game. Don't need 300fps. Shoot 40yds max and learn to hunt, make it work for you. Outlaw

Indy 5064,
Unfortunatly you just missed the Illinois Deer & Turkey Classic. :( I think it was Feb 21-23. It was a very good show again. However, I don't think there were quiet as many exibitors as there were the last couple of years.

tcoop, thanks for the input and the dates, dont know why I was thinking it was in March....I think it may have been a few years ago when I took a nice 11-pointer there for show. Haven been since...always something going on....sounds like they are cutting down on some of their exhibits....thats a bummer...have a great day! :)

don't let speed be your only criteria for selecting a new bow...
feel, price, availability. warranty all should be among factors when considering a new bow...
i picked up my old high country cam bow today and it felt like the machinegun i carried in the army it was so heavy! it is fast though...
my new hoyt single cam is faster and much lighter in hand ...
my new howatt hunter is even lighter and just as slow as they ever were but my preferred hunting bow ... :o ... i'm one of those 'stick in the mud' traditional bowhunters ... i prefer the recurve or a longbow to go afield to hunt ... :o
have fun, enjoy and get what makes ya happy! :)
