im shooting a 60 pound mx flex i have a set of arrows that weigh 360 with a hundred grain thunderhead and a set that weigh 460 with the same broad head i like the lighter ones for speed but will they be good enough for hogs or should i go with the heavier arrow?(there carbons)

You might want to use the heavier arrow for the extra penatration needed for the hogs. I know that the carbon arrows penatrate most animals that I have shot better than the aluminum arrows. Im sure I will here form the aluminum loyalists on this but seeing that you have the carbons I will go out on the limb.

Either broadhead will take a hog with a well placed shot in the vitals. But i would prefer the heavier shaft also.I shot 145 gr heads(Steelforce) with my carbons with a complete pass through.Just be sure to aim behind the shoulder plate.

i know this may generate some controversy but i would use the heaviest shaft you can shoot be it carbon aluminum or wood.
speed may equal more accuracy (?) but not necessarily more usable KE.
there are some out there who do not understand or realize that in order to gain KE in pratical usage as it applies to "penetration" the speed gain is often times not realistic. an irrevokable law of physics says:" if you double the speed the energy quadruples." you can do the simple math to figure the gain/loss ...
we all know it's not possible to double the speed of our bows so we try to gain what we can. but if the gain is not substantial by switching to a lighter aero and modifying equipment is, in my mind, questionable.
it's been my experience that in target archery/3d/stump shooting aero weight is not a critical factor but when it comes to shooting animals (penetration), heavier shafts work better and seem to be more accurate as they are not as "touchy" to shooting errors and equipment setups. (sounds contradictory doesn't it? but think about it)
chuck adams has quoted that he believes the the 260fps bracket of speed is ideal for bowhunting weight bows.
one mans opinion ...
