A friend picked up a '37 Winchester model 70 in 22 Hornet. The stock looks great, varnish is excellent, with a few use dents on the forearm. The bluing is worn on the bolt knob, the trigger guard and the crown but looks great everywhere else. The bore is perfect.
The rear sight has been replaced with a peep sight, the front still has the hood.
No rust what-so-ever.
Serial number is in the low 6000's.

It also has a Lyman 20x long target scope from the same era, with the wood box.

He paid $1000 for it. I think he got a great deal, that it could probably go for at least $1500 if not more.

Anyone out there with a recent blue book that want to bother looking it up for me?

That rifle runs from a low of $400 to a high of $1950. They have a value of $500 for the reciever just by itself . Not seeing the gun but judging by what you say, you are pretty close on your price . I saw some of the scopes mentioned and they went for $350 to $500 at a local auction . It is hard to give a accurate price not seeing the gun in question . Rojo

Thanks.
I've been searching around and found that scope and your prices are what I was finding.

It's just wrong that a Remington fan has a rifle like that. The more I read about it the more I want it.
Is it wrong to covet your neighbor's rifle? :)

Some times I know how you feel Myk . There is a gun coming up in a auction that both my partner and myself would like to have . Well I agreed not to run him up at the sale ,but dang I would like to own that gun . There are some other guns that I want so that is some conciliation, but this one is kind of rare and only the second one I have ever seen . Rojo
