Black Powder

ok, i know i want black powder, i have been told to get fine stuff, grading AAA, so when i walk into the store, to make sure i get the right thing straight off, what should i ask for?

Hodgdon triple -7 ,Clean Shot Powder, and Pyrodex all come in a FFFg ,but I'm not sure who makes AAA. Usually there will be someone in a gun store that can help you . It would also help to know what you plan on shooting it in ,a pistol or rifle .

And caliber.

I've never heard of any "A" designations. Someone must've been mixed up and meant you need triple F. Which is what I think you use in small calibers, for .45's, .50's and .58's you use double F.

thanks for the replies, i was given the wrong letter of the alphabet for the grading. FFFg makes more sense given what i have been able to glean from internet sites.

just as well i did a bit of research and asked a few questions before making a fool of myself.
