There are several magnetic bore sighters on the market. Now I notice that they are heavily discounted. Anybody have the Leupold? Notice that Cabela's and Bushnell now have magnetic models. Are they any good?

Powerhorn,I just got one two weeks ago, from bass pro.I was a little leary about the quality and presission. But it actually worked well.At 100 yds i was 4 inches high and 2 inches to the right.I just brought it over the two inches left. The graph is'nt what i would consider a clear view. But i had no problems seeing it.I think i will still order a laser bore sighter

Is this the one your referring to?

:D Thanks for reply Mossyhorns. Yeah, that is the one. Curious about how you know how high or low to place the sighter on the bore? Seems kind of a general process. Of course, a bore sighter is kind of general anyway - so I guess I answered my question.

Not a "newbie hunter" after 50 years! ;) Guess that has something to do with HuntSeek.

Howdy Powderhorn,Newbie Hunter on the forums just refers to numbers of posts you have made.Something you can watch increase as you post.

As far as the bore sighter goes. The directions ststed to measure the distance between the barrel and the top of the scope on the objective end,and place the bore sight at same measurement, and centered at the end of the barrel.
Once i had it bore sighted and dialed in on paper at 100 yds.I placed the bore sighter back on the barrel and moved it till it was centered with the scope. Then made note and marks on the bore sighter. So next time if i just want to recheck the alinenment.I can set it to the marks and check for zero.
