i am in the market for a new climbing tree stand. I had my Summit bend last year 300 lbs rating BS I,m only 230. I was thinkig of getting the lone wolf sit and climb. My problem is no one locally sells them so I can,t really check one out except for pics. The seat dosen.t look that comfortable but other than that I think it looks pretty good. I would really appreciate some opinions on lone wolf stands

Thanks
Buck Daddy ;)

I have a sit and climb (not that brand) it rarely gets used because...
1) It's too noisy
2) Takes too long to get set up
3) Not fun setting up in the dark
4) Really depends on the bark type for how safe it feels
5) Too picky about the trees it can use (find me a telephone pole type tree in the woods)
6) Have to climb up and down to get it set right for the tree's taper
7) Nearly as much of a pain to get out of as they are to get into
8) My general distaste for tree stands

I'm no help on the brand but I don't like climbers. A strap on would be my choice if I was one to use trees.

I could see someone pushing 70lbs of extra gear, cloths and food wieght. You'd be amazed how fast things add up.

And welcome to Huntseek.

Welcome to HuntSeek Buck Daddy.

Can't help on that tree stand, but I'll check with some of my reps to see what they may know about them. It'll be tomorrow.

Hi Buck Daddy,

Welcome aboard. This topic has been covered on this forum pretty thoroughly in the past. However since we are in the process of making many changes I don't think that you can search the archives at this time.

I personally have 2 climbers that I like. One is a old one that I can't even remember the manufacturer. I like it & it is comfortable, but it makes noises as you move such as to shift weight to shoot. Very bad time to squeek!!!

The other that I have is a Tree Lounge (http://www.treelounge.com/) . It is truly the most comfortable stand made. Seeing their ads, I don't think it would be possible for you to bend this one. The have something like 1,000 or 1,500 lbs. static weight that they put on it.

Things I like about the climbers:
Comfort - can stay in all day long
Safety - both of mine pretty much have you surrounded
Able to hunt very high if you find the right tree - I usually hunt at least 25 ft. up.
Can take nap if needed w/o worrying about falling out

Things I don't like about the climbers
Heavy to carry in & out
Too much work to get up & down - I usually only hunt out of them If I can be in it at least 4 hrs
Hard to find the right tree - straight w/ little or no branches
Too comfortable easy to fall asleep - I woke up once w/ does right under me ::big

I use an API Grand Slam Extreme Bowhunter model.I find it very quiet, farely lightwieght and user friendly.I am able to attach it to a tree in total darkness safely. And climb. But i do have my trees pre-chosen.And i have never a problem with slipage.
Don't know about the Lone Wolf Climber, sorry.

Mossy,

API Grand Slam is the old stand that I have. However, it is nothing like the new models that they have now of the same name. It is great except for the noise. I have never had either of my stands slip.

Yes I thought sure that it was him at first.

I know you specified climbing (which I have a home made and an API I got last year in a pinch to replace another homespun that got five fingure discounted), I never thought I'd be a ladder stand fan but gees I'm working at a store getting the strongbuilt 15' basic ladder w/rest for 58$. Tough deal to beat, publicly they are availble for 69$. I do like the API climbers too, the grand slam extreme is sweet, every joint to welded on decent weight aluminum with a flat tough finnish. (My personal API climber wasn't that fancy.)

if your looking for a great climbing stand i would really look at the ol' man climber. it's not real high priced runs about $170. it is very comfortable and has a net for a seet. it is very light and you can really fly up the tree with it, and the best thing i like about it is that it folds up really quick and easy and fits snug to your back like a back pack. it's also very very light and you can walk with it on your back forever. i've used two different kinds before but i won't even bother trying a new one now that i have got this one. hope this helps you.
