Hi everyone,

I finally got out to put up my treestand today. I had planned on putting it in a different spot than I had last year. However, when I got there I found a reel good rub line leading to within 35 yards of my old stand site. The trail that leads to the rubs is only about 15 yards from the tree.

I have another portable to get up. The spot it was in last year is no good this year. The heavy intersecting trails aren't there this year. I have another spot picked out for it though where a heavily used trail crosses a small creek.

I can't figure this timber out. I didn't hunt it for about 8 yrs. because the farmers boys were hunting it. I started hunting it again about 3 yrs ago. That year there were no buck rubs any where all year long in the timber. But I saw several bucks and a couple of real nice ones.

Last year there were no rubs until the midle of November, but I only saw a couple of small bucks.

This year it is only Sept. 20 and there are several fresh rubs in every section that I checked out. At least 2 of them were on pretty decent size trees that went from the ground to my shoulder (I'm 5'10"). Which leads me to believe they are pretty decent size bucks.

Hopefully I will get the other stand up tomorrow or early next week.

I never take my stands down,, but they are on priate lands, I have been checking them and have a very good rub line on my best stand, this should be a very good year around here.

tcoop; It sounds like you have 1, a couple. or hopefully a few mature bucks that have made them selves at home in the area and the youngsters have him/them nervous. Probably matured in the absense of the farmer boys. KEEP THE FARMER BOYS AWAY! [cont] And have short blood trails! :D

Thanks Dickpal,

I like short blood trails! The last 2 bow kills I got went less than 20 yards. That is what I like about the WASP Jak Hammer broad heads that I have been using. That 1 3/4" diameter cutting blades really take them out!

Tcoop; Popping 2 balloons helps too! Nice shooting whether you double lunged them both or not but less than 20 yards, I would put my money on it. I love it when you can see them tip, and then when the neck goes limp the rack tips up like a Tip-UP on the ice. Then you can just sit for a while a cherrish the moment! Man I'm getting excited! We woke up to a pretty hard frost and then a wet snow started around 8. I couldn't stand being at work so I'm doing this and then heading to the UP to hang one for Wednesdays MI opener too! Mother inlaw or not I'm going, Hell I may even hunt tonight here, what could she do leave?

LOL..either way i see it D.P. it's a win-win situation for ya.Just one more day and i get to go out for opener here.31 degrees forcasted, that would be the coldest morning yet so far.Last year 3rd week of Nov. it was still in the mid 60's.And screwed up the rut.Just wasn't hardly any activity happening.Don't think we will have that problem this year at all.

Stand is up,
Washing & de-scenting clothes now,
Bow & gear about ready,
And I can't wait.

I was lucky enough that someone traded days off with me so I have Wednesday, IL's Bow season opener, off. I'm looking forward to getting away from EVERYTHING as much as I am the actual hunt.
