I know you use these and have shot deer with them.
Since I hunt from the ground nearly 100% of the time, what I want to know about them is do they make a cutting entry hole or should I carry some of my old broadheads in case I have an uphill shot?

Since my bow shoots field points and open blades into the same spot I shouldn't have a problem switching between them if I have to.

I was that unimpressed with the blood trail and damage my Satellites did.

That was an expensive mis-guess. I thought I had an 8 arrow quiver so I bought three 3 packs. I only have a 7 arrow quiver and if I keep one arrow to regular broadheads (at least for fine tuning if not for hunting) I could've kept a little extra money in my pocket.

I haven't opened them so I may return the unused 3 pack. But like everything else bowhunting I like to keep spares on hand.

Myk if you want to get rid of that 3 pak i'll buy them from you.You won't have to worry about a blood trail. You'll see the deer go down after gettin hit with a jackhammer.Realtree uses them also i believe. You can squeeze your fist in the wound. What are they a 2 in cutting dia. ?

I am finding out the same with the Montec heads to.They are a super tuff head and bad on bone, but i like to see a heavy blood trail.

They're 1 3/4" diameter.

I already ruined one target practicing with them, so now I only have a two pack and 2 extra blades :)

Going into an rough sawn oak board seemed to be too much for it :)

MYK,

First of all I want to apologize, I never saw this tread until today or I would have answered you.

Yes the Jack-hammers make a decent cutting dia. on entry. I have checked each of the 3 deer that I got with them and the hole in the skin was small, but immediately under the skin, like before they hit the ribs, they seem to be open. All of 3 of the deer have left blood on both sides of the trail.

How did you ruin one practicing? Did it break off blades or what? Did you tie them closed with dental floss like they said. I have shot a couple many times and never did any damage.

I have also shot at a few squirrels and missed hitting a tree one time. I also shot a possum and stuck him to a log. All of this and I have never damaged one Jack-Hammer yet. I just keep resharpening them and using them again.

Again I apologize for missing this thread.

I tied them closed with Spider Wire, but I guess the oak was too much for it. One blade broke and I bent the ferrel trying to get it out. It hit a chainsaw cut and I think that's what caused it to break.

It penetrated and opened up into the oak pretty good though.

Shooting through the target wasn't a problem and my target is pretty much all very hard compressed spray foam anymore :)

I don't mind having a broken one. It gives me an extra head and 2 extra blades.

No biggie missing the thread. I just figured that you never really shot a deer with them ;)
Really I figured you never checked entry and knew you hunted from high stands.

MYK,

You do know that you can get replacement blades for them too, don't you? I got some at Wolf Hollow Archery just to have on hand, but haven't used them yet.

P.S. Oh and by the way, I get enough harassing from my other hunting buddies, I don't need you guys here to start too!! :P YES I HAVE SHOT 3 DEER WITH THEM.
