I Still have 3 buck tags between MI & WI :o so I figured I had to start with something.
He ain't the biggest but it was a clean kill and he should be good eating and both make me very happy! :D

He turned to a grunt at about 50yds and came in to 22 and offered. Then I got to watch him tip which always is neat.

Nice sized deer. Don't you hate when they cheat you out of brow tines?

Fixed blades or expandables?

Yea the brow tine thing sucks! We seem to have a gene pool of them so I don't feel bad shooting them, it wouldn't bother me a bit if that blood line would run out. As for the heads I just use Thunderhead 100s and this one hit a rib solid on the way in, hard enough to knock off the nock on impact yet the head is still intact and it punched a nice exit wound. Heres a pic of the arrow impact area.

A while ago I got a no brow tine deer during shotgun. Huge body but he was only a 4pt. This year's buck was the same way. But I got this year's early enough that he didn't have time to breed. Obviously the one I got with shotgun did have time to breed.

Culling bad seeds is about the only management that does us any good since it's such a small property.
