a lot of people are liking the new Western Rivers MP3 player. Haven't tried yet myself so can't give you a first hand account.
They're fairly inexpensive starting at $249.00

Evan -- I'll post some pics of it laster tonight. I'm selling these things and they are great. Sound is better than any FoxPro I've heard or used and the remote is so small and easy to use. And for $249.00 with remote can't beat the price.

Hey Evan, I just got back from a hunt an hour ago with the unit your talking about. One thing I will say is that it is F****** awesome. I had 3 dogs standing there trying to figure out what the heck was happenin' . I wish I had a partner with me.
I have tested the remote range and it works to beyond 200 yds. The coyotes center their attention to the sound and they don't even notice you hiding off to the side.
If you are a computer "geek" as I am, the sounds cand be added or changed with ease.
I know I'm off your subject a bit, but I highly recommend the unit. I have researched the other units and they are all good quality and have different features which appeal to individual users.
This is a quality product and the people over at the manufacturers site are totally awesome.

Here's a pic I took tonight. Notice that I stuck a Game Boy game cartridge next to the remote so you could get a feel of the size of the remote.
The pic quality is not very high, but it's just there to give you a feel for the caller.

I have the predation unit, whichs works ok, but I'm not really satisfied with the quality of sounds that are available for purchase from western rivers. I bought everything that is required to convert my own sounds into mp3 but have not been successful at it yet. Any body know of any real world coyote hunters who are computer savy, and will share/sell sounds (legally of course) in mp3 format, so I can get my 500.00 investment up and running. I can move sounds freely about my caller, just can't get files converted from .wav to mp3, when it does work the sounds are distorted to bad to even recognise. Thanks

Ridge -
email me some of your .wav files and I'll convert them for you. just email them to me at jerry at huntseek.com
Next question is why did you spend 500 for the unit? they are much less than that.

I recently purchased a Western Rivers Predation caller. I am in the process of returning it. Mine has really marginal sound quality (speaker clips at high volume and lots of electronic warbling sounds in the background), not a lot of volume, doesn't last long in the field and the remote range left much to be desired. I'm comparing this unit to my present Johnny Stewart tape caller with remote. The JS unit wins hands down for sound, volume, battery life and remote control range.
I can only speak for my Western Rivers unit but I think it is a low quality toy. Also, be careful of the remote if you have a lanyard on the bottom. If it is pulled slightly, out comes the battery and the remote is lost in the field. Not such a great design idea there either.
I still like the idea of a digital unit but I want a good quality, servicible unit that will stand up to serious hunting. I guess you get what you pay for and personally, I would not tell a friend to buy one of these units. Just my 2-cents.

Thanks for the report. I have not been able to use mine much and in east texas where I have my lease I can't very far. too heavily wooded to be more than about 75 yards away from the unit. But so far I've been happy with the sounds and the remote. But I will agree it is easy to lose the battery, if you jerk it hard.

Hi Jerry. Most of our calling is done in open desert. We mostly hunt the Mojave Preserve and are cranking up the callbox to just about max to bring in the critters. The WR unit just didn't do it for me. I hunt a lot and I need a unit that will kick a##. Who knows....perhaps I just got a turkey. Believe me, if ya lined up 20 of anything, I'd pick the bad one. Unfortunately, the WR unit I got was a stinker.

I finally got my new Loudmouth caller. I am satisfied so far but haven't used it in the field yet. Volume is good but the speaker is small. Nice and light though and I can always plug in a larger speaker if need be. This thing also has a bunch of well thought out features. I think it will do just fine. Glad I sent the Western Rivers unit back. The Loudmouth is 10X better.

Can't go wrong with a foxpro. Sound is great, unit is light, holds up to 32 different progamable sounds,,remote is small and is back lit for when It's just getting light or dark. I would recommend this to any predator hunter. The price is another story 399.00 at Cabela's. Foxpro is or has already come out with a new model,It's the Foxpro FX3 and has a range of 700 yards not that anyone would need or want that much distance between them and there target. I have looked at just about all the e-callers and have settled my sites on a foxpro. Good luck with what ever you buy.
