It looks like I have my bow and myself all tuned up. Broadheads, fieldpoints and mechanicals are all hitting the bullseye at 40yds. At 20yds I totally blew out the bullseye.

Last year a nearly 40yd shot poked the tip of the mech through the off side skin. This year I'm going to be at least 10fps faster, and I think I could've been tuned better last year.
So I'm hoping that is enough extra to push me all the way through.

With the bow set at 240fps (62lbs I think) I can easily pull it.
Maybe in the next month I'll get my muscles used to it and add a few more feet per second.

While I was out shooting today a fawn came out and didn't spook off until I sat down and tried to get some pictures.

Yep. 465 grains. I think the extra weight has something to do with penetration because of inertia.

Getting the bow paper tuned I sort of blew out my shoulder. I pushed it too far trying to get it done in one night. So I laid off shooting during most of the summer.
Then when I got back to fine tuning it with exposed blade broadheads I made sure I didn't push it too far. So it took a few days of tuning, a few days of setting the pins, then I added some silencers, turned the weight down a notch and had to retune.

Somewhere in there I figured out that I can't use that handle I made, it causes me to torque the bow. That one was acting odd and took a while of hair pulling to figure out.

I might pick up a lighter arrow to try but I doubt if I go to carbon. I would like to get a 5gr/lb arrow just to see how fast it goes.

The deer are wishing that you'd stay home this year. ;)

When does bow season open for you up there?

Finding someone who can tune a bow is hard to do. I must say that I lucked out when I bought my bow. The guy knew what he was doing and had experience doing it.

Nothing in season down here for a while but I'm starting to foam at the mouth. Fall....Football and hunting.......doesn't get much better.

Deer season is Oct 1-Jan 14 I think.

You really need to tune yourself unless you have someone very patient. All the gadgets are good to get you close but you have to shoot a little, adjust a little.

I never liked paper tuning but this new bow seemed to need it.
Then I like to fine tune by shooting exposed blade broadheads and field points. Then adjust the rest until the broadheads hit with the field points.
Even though I'm shooting mechs now I tuned up some of my old fixed blades to do this with.
Now that I'm tuned I made them back into field points. I hope nothing happens that I have to retune before the season starts.

I need to get into a game cooking mode and make some freezer room.
