The Deer I Saw Today

Hanging out talking after doing some duck blind building a very tall and wide 8pt came walking into the field. It was about like the one I got with the shotgun last year.

Behind it was a not as tall but just as wide 8pt.

I'm thinking that tall one would make a nice bow deer.
This is the land I bowhunt the most. I wish I had a camera with me, I almost brought it along.

Isn't that frustating. I never seem to have the camera when I need it. I saw a deer last nite, but was too busy slamming on the brakes to avoid it. I couln't tell you if it was a buck or doe. It did seem like a very large deer, that I assume was a buck. It was pretty close, I almost hit it. It was going from one corn field to another. That is why I didn't see it coming.

Me and my friend were watching discussing them when they bolted. We couldn't figure out what spooked them, then we saw his kid coming to the shop from the house.

I told my friend, "No wonder he hasn't got a deer yet."
The kid said, "That one's mine."
His dad said, "You'll have to see him close enough during hunting season first. You spooked them."
"Well I didn't see him."
I said, "That's what I mean." :)

I'd like to see him get that deer (or any deer) but it's unlikely. He spends too much time watching TV during deer season and too little time watching the woods. He's not in tune with seeing deer. These deer were shining in the sun against a shadowed woods, any deer hunter should've been able to see them.

I guess I have to quit squirrel hunting or stay up by the shop with shotgun if the deer are going to be there this often. Yesterday I got interrupted when a squirrel was finally working in because a fawn walked up. It would've been an easy 30yd bow shot if it was in a little over a month.

The deer I almost hit when I had a motorcycle looked pretty big too :)
