My brother in law is still foaming at the mouth for a bow.

He said his max that he could spend would be $300

His draw length is 27".

He has a hard time pulling back my 68 pound bow even with 3 fingers just once.

What would you guys suggest?

It would be nice if the bow cme with some extras so he wouldn't have to buy them. He is brand new to bow hunting.

I suggest checking at stores for clearances (sores like Gander Mountain). Also watch Ebay in December for year end model clearances.
I got my Martin Phantom II for $250 from a dealer selling last year's stuff. Not a bad price for a 310fps IBO rated bow.

Well, the brother in law got his bow tonight. It is a parker. 55lb draw. Although it is too small for me, I shot it anyways. It is one smooth, silent shooting bow.

He is going to have to play around with it tomorrow/shoot it.

Tifford,

Always good to hear about a new archer. He's hooked now. Best thing to do is to get him to a pro shop and teach him proper shooting basics to start with. It is much easier to learn it right from the start, than it is to correct bad habits.

Thats is great advise tcoop.Better having the bow fit you than you trying to fit the bow. After a couple of years shooting you both will be doing it yourselves.Unless thers a serious problem with it.Better buy you an archery box for all your accessories and gadgets...lol
And looking with some foresight Tifford, you got yourself a bowhunting partner for years to come."Have Bows will travel"....

Tcoop,

You are so right. While in the shop testing it for fit he kept trying to shoot it all wrong. The guy took his time setting it up for him. brother in law shot it after it was set up. We reminded him to keep the corner of the mouth to tip of nose thing going on a few times. The bow fits him well. He was going to buy a bow from a buddy of his but I'm glad he got one that fits him.

Mossy,
You might be right. Only time will tell.
