I haven't been out in the deer woods very much so far this year but I was practicing yesterday and my trusty Fletch hunter broke on me. i've had that damb thing for 10 to 12 yrs. I was shocked I've never had any problems with it until now. So I need to get a new one, probably tomorrow after work. does anyone have any suggestions? I got on Cabela's web site and found one I think I like. It's the tru-fire steath has anyone used one? It's got a head that swivels 360 degrees, has 3/4" length adj.,trigger adj. from 4 to 21 oz or something like that and has the evolution buckle strap for 64.99. lend me your views Scott

I think mine is a Tru-Fire but I'm not sure what model. I like it, it's been good for me.

Scott $65.00 might seem like a lot for a release, and it is.But it will last you another 15 yrs.I also use a Tru fire. And have had no problems with it over several years of usage.

I use a Tru-Fire X-Caliper. I need the shoot on relax option. Otherwise I jerk my shots.
I don't know how long I've had mine but it's been a long time. I did buy a spare though because it is getting old.

Myk put me onto the true-fire excaliber and I really like it. I'm getting 2" or so groups at 40 yards with it.

I ended up getting the tru-fire stealth. I went to a local archery shop and tried out a few first to see what I'd like. Thought while I was there I would put a new peep on and some new string silensers probably should have waited on the peep though, being we're already into the season. the only reason I changed my peep Is because It was kind of large and it made my bow string sound like a rubberband. The last time I went out on a 3-D shoot It was making that same noise and I was the joke of the day my new nick name for the day was rubberband man. lol No more of that! Anyway good luck with the season. Scott

Scott,

Why was the peep making that sound? Did it have rubber tubing to hold it straight when at full draw?

Where are you from? Where do you do 3-D shoots? I do a few her in IL.

hey, tcoop
I can't really say why it was making that noise the only thing I thought it could be was the silencers, peep being too large or my release. It doesn't have a rubber tube hooked to the peep so I know that wasn't it. It doesn't make it anymore after I replaced all of them it went away. The bow I have is a Mathews-q2 and is now as quite as a Mathews should be. I live in hillsdale Co. about 30 miles away from the Ohio, MI border most of the 3-d shoots I go to are in the Jackson area around 30 to 45 min. North. We'll gotta go 4:30am is pretty darn early to get up, hopefully I'll have some meat in the freezer and some horns to hang on the wall tomorrow. later Scott

Sorry to say but it didn't work out. I saw three does and a 10 pt. I passed on the does they came right by my stand. I was hoping the buck would follow. I don't know what his problem was, maybe the does weren't in estrous yet. He hung out about 50 yrds and wouldn't come in plus the wind was blowing right in my face there was no way he could have winded me he was just being stubborn. I tried grunting soft it got his attention for a second but he put his head down and walked off. He shure was a shooter though wish he would have come in. I'll send the pix when I get one or him. later scott

Quote Scott,

"I don't know what his problem was"..."He hung out about 50 yrds and wouldn't come in "...."He shure was a shooter though"

That's how he got to be a shooter.
