Today it was a major thunder storm when I went to check my traps. I wish I would have checked them in the AM before work. But I caught 1 really muddy coyote. It sure took me many years to figure them out, but now they seem to come easy.

MtBronk,
Yes, I have done well on the coyote and beaver. But for some reason I haven't done well at all on the coon. I should have at least 10-15 by now. I ran into an ole' timer trapper who said the same thing about coon. He has 30-40 sets out and only 4 small coon.

I have added a few traps since my 1st post. Some new sets and some replacments because of a digger etc.
Here are the total # of traps I have out now.
Coyote 9
Beaver 4
Coon 4 (I can't see taking the time to add more when the ones I have aren't producing.)
Mink 3

Ruler,
Here are what my coyote have weighed so far this year.
M-37 lbs.
F-24 lbs. (This years pup)
M-43 lbs.
M-32 lbs.
Here are what my beaver have weighed.
55 lbs.
47 lbs.
67 lbs.
24 lbs.
21 lbs.
50 lbs.

3 days ago I missed something in one of my foot holds for coon. Yesterday I caught one w/ the right foot and the left had been skinned up. Probably the same coon. 6 days ago I released a real small coon. He had some damage to his foot. Today I caught the same coon in a conibear.

In one of my coyote sets, I've had a digger. He has dug up my trap 3 days in a row. Yesterday I had him for a little. The trap was snapped and pulled to the end of the chain. There were a couple of hairs. Today I got his toe nail. In another set right by this one, he stepped just off of the pan. He is pretty well educated, I'll porbably have to hunt this one.

tcoop. if you have not caught that digger yet? then just us 3 traps in a row about 3 feet apart. that well work most of the time.

trap 3feet trap 3feet trap then smart dog well get dum.most of the time youl get 2 feet and he cant get away. mt.bronk
p.s. keep your chanes stakes close as you can to the middel so the dog well tangle up in them.

mt.bronk,

I'll have to get that digger next year. I've moved on to another spot. I had been at the other spot for about 2 weeks and was going to pull my traps on Sunday as I wasn't doing very well there. Well, the water was up and I couldn't get to some of my traps. So I left them. Sure glad I did, I've got 1 beaver, 2 coon and 2 coyote there since.
