Default Mini Alpha Hunter

the mini alpha was finaly dropped off today, orderd it right before turkey day,

if anyone is in the market I defiantly recomend it, if your lookn for a smaller fixed blade knife. the blade has more of curver than the bigger alpha and its almost 3"s shorter in overall lenght. grips are thinner too. and it fits in a nice compact leather sheath.

I dont know how it holds an edge yet. I hope its gona hold a decent edge.

That edge may depend on how sharp you make it and if you run it through bones or not.

My buck knife has a real sharp edge to it. It will cut a hide faster and better than a sheet rock knife. For cutting through bone I use either a hack saw or a hachett.

well my buck knife buying kinda went out of wack after deer and elk season finished.

somehow i ended up with the minialpha ats34 steel rose wood grips, and its bigger brother also with rosewood grips and ats 34 steel. I alo got the rubber gripped aplha hunter with its high carbon 440 or 420 steel cant remmeber what now.

so I ended up with the 3 alpha hunters and one foldeing alpha. thats almost 300 bucks in 4 knives, thats crazy.

the rubber gripped one is the only one i use so far its kinda my utility knife, I love em all though

Evan,

If you were richer and had saved your money instead of spending it on rifles you don't need and knives you don't want, you could have sent it all to me and I could have made you one like I made myself. Now, admittedly, I don't whack on the back of it to cut through pelvis bones, but it's a marvel for the soft work. 3 1/4 inch blade; 7 inches length overall.

Evan,

Yeah, I can make the blade more of a drop point. I make 'em however the customer wants 'em. They just send me a drawing and I build from that. The metal is carbon damascus. The swirls come from the manner in which the metal is heated, beaten, lapped back over itself and beaten again.

Evan,

I only make two knives a year and I currently have a 5 1/2 year backlog. I'm too old to be taking any more orders for 6 years out! Lots of custom knife makers will build one to your spec and can get it to you in time for you to use it during this first decade of the new century!!
