I'm looking for a scope for my rifle that will allow me to shoot 100 yard shots at dusk and dawn hours.

What would be the the least expensive and moderate priced socpe for my needs. Don't have a fortune to spend.

Asking which scope is best is a loaded question, me I usually go with whats cheapest or on sale. I own a variety of scopes from Simmons, BEC,bushnell,to one I got when a store called gee bee's was in town. I'll say if you can grab a bushnell on sale or even 2nd hand cheap you'll be doing yourself a favor, my opinion only. My simmons is a good scope, can't complain, but some people have had trouble with them, as well as my BEC. My father in law bought a bec and we shot it in, and on the last shot everything went blank, the seals broke and the gas escaped. Hope this is of some help, I know what you mean by trying to save a few bucks, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

Good advise from Vern. Also, no matter what brand you go with, get the largest objective diameter that you can afford. This takes in more light, giving you better shots at the dusk & dawn times that you asked about.

I put vxll 3x9x50 on all three of my rifles Can get them for $299. They work great for dawn and dusk shooting.

try www.riflescopes.com they have some good prices on just about anything you need . I get my best buys from a local gunshop that buys me any scope I want for ten dollars over his cost . I just bought a 3200 elite for $19.00 less than anyplace I could find on the net . A lot of dealers do this and all you have to do is ask them .

I use a 3X9X50 for poor light conditions .

Tough to bet a Leupold esecially considering how well they back their scopes with the warranty. You won't spend a fortune, look for a used Leo.
Of course ya could give a look at Swift Optics good scopes for the money and an over the counter warranty!!

I have never had a scope over 40mm and have done lots of hunting over the 40+ years, but what ever turns your motor is the way you want to go. Good luck,Outlaw.

P.S. The new Leupold V-1 2x7 @ about $179-$189, the 3x9 @ about $199, and the 4x12 @ about $249. These are the same as the old V-11. Outlaw

BSA. Made in china piece of junk, they say. $89.99 from cabelas and its a 4-16x50 that actually does its job. People say you get what you pay for, especially when they have a Buriss or Leupold scope. Personally I would love to have a thousand dollar scope, being of the working class type I cant afford that luxury. My BSAs (both of them) have done everything I need them to do and I havent a bit of regret for buying them. rasp)

I just put a nikon titanium 5.5x16.5 on my 223, replacing a tasco 4-16, and it is like a whole new world with good glass. Set me back $550, but I do believe I got what I wanted.

Didn't BSA recently last year go out of business? If not them who was it?
